Curly's Shrug

Pattern: Baby Shrug from Simply Baby by Debbie Bliss
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Merino Aran in Chocolate Brown
Needles: US 8 Bamboo Circular for the body and US 7 Bamboo Circular for the cuffs
Started: April 4, 2008
Finished: April 12, 2008
Notes: First, I substituted yarn, though remaining in the Aran and Debbie Bliss lines. The pattern calls for two balls to complete a 3-6 month size. Slight fib there (unless of course the Cashmerino Aran has more yardage than the Merino Aran, which in all honesty, I have not verified). This necessitated a return trip to the yarn shop for a third ball. Other than some risky business picking up stitches along the edges, this shrug went off without a hitch. Quick, easy and cute.

Roza's Socks

Pattern: Roza's Socks in Spring '07 Interweave Knits by Grumperina
Yarn: Rio De La Plata Yarns Merino Sock in Quartz pink - confetti - dry rose
Needles: US 1 Addi Lace Circular
Started: July 10, 2007
Finished: September 21, 2007
Notes: Very classic pattern. It also taught me how to use the figure 8 cast-on. The yarn is scrumptious and I want more!

On-Your-Toes Socks

Pattern: On-Your-Toes Socks by Ann Budd from IK Summer '07 issue
Yarn: Tofutsies - Partie colorway
Needles: US 2 Addi Turbo's Circular
Started: June 22, 2007
Finished: July 17, 2007
Notes: I had some serious trouble with the Middle-eastern wrap method of casting on. But found a super tutorial with detailed photos at the hello yarn blog. This made the whole thing much simpler to understand. Truth be told, I really like this method of casting on. I also like the shape of the toe this cast on creates. It seems to me to be less pointy and more round in shape, creating a very roomy toe. There was some concern when I first tried on just the toe, but once I got farther into the sock, things seem to hit my normal sizing and changing needles to adjust size was not necessary.

Jr. Whitby

Pattern: Whitby from Knitting on The Road by Nancy Bush
Yarn: Louet Gems Sport Weight 100% Merino Wool in Pewter
Needles: US 2 Addi Turbo's Circular
Started: June 6, 2007
Finished: June 21, 2007
Notes: I knit them toe-up because it was left over yarn from the adult Whitby's I did earlier. To get the size right, I had to slightly modify the cable and cuff.

Bikini Bottom Socks

Pattern: Generic Toe-up Recipe with short row heel
Yarn: Cider Moon's Glacier in Bikini Bottom
Needles: US 2 Addi Turbo's Circular
Started: April 30, 2007
Finished: May 9, 2007
Notes: I need to give more attention to my short rows. Instead of nice tight wraps, I end up with something more like eyelets.
